SPECIAL FEATURES OF LYNX FUR

Lynx is a long-haired fur that is light-colored with spotted, textured body hair.It might have tints of gold, orange and grayish-brown. Lynx fur is suitable for creation of fashionable luxurious garments.

Lynx fur is used for the manufacturing of coats, jackets, hats and collars. This fur has a good wearability being more durable than ferret, ermine and rabbit fur.

Lynx fur is not dyed due to its natural beautiful color. Usually its natural color is used in the garments. The color of fur varies depending on the habitat of the lynx.

The lynx inhabits northern regions of Russia and Scandinavia. Also, it can be found in Northern America. There are four main species which are Eurasian lynx, Canadian lynx, Iberian lynx and bobcat.

  • The Eurasian lynx is a medium-sized cat native to Siberia, Central, East, and Southern Asia, North, Central and Eastern Europe. It is the largest species. Its head and upper body is silver or red, its belly is white. Littlespotsarespreadallacrossthebody.

  • The Iberian lynx inhabits southwestern Spain. Its coat is of lighter colors than of the Eurasian lynx. The spots are darker.

  • The Canadian lynx is reddish with dark spots all across the body. It looks as though it has been powdered with fire.

  • The bobcat is light grayish or reddish brown with a white belly. It can be found everywhere from the Southern Canada to the southern Mexico, in Northern America it is spread from east to west.

In the Russian fur industry we distinguish between such species as the Amur lynx, the jungle cat, the forest lynx and caracal.

The jungle cat’s fur is thick and grey with reddish tints. The forest lynx is brown and silver with dark spots, its fur is softer. The Amur lynx has a reddish coat; its fur is long and dense. The caracal has shorter fur; its coat grey is with yellow tints.

Just like among other fur animals, lynx pelt is more valuable in the winter than in the summer because winter fur is softer, longer and fluffier.
